The Division of Vascular Surgery operates out of the Peter Lougheed Centre in Calgary, Alberta. We are a high-volume, tertiary care centre offering vascular care to southern Alberta, eastern British Columbia, and western Saskatchewan.
Our state-of-the-art vascular centre opened in 2015, and features two dedicated vascular hybrid operating suites complete with a Seimens Artis Zeego C-arm.
The vascular wing is located on the fifth floor of the Peter Lougheed Centre. Our infrastructure features the vascular step-down unit (VSCU), vascular ward, staff offices, resident lounge, resident call room, and the Zivot Limb Preservation Centre, all conveniently located in close proximity. The VSCU is an eight bed unit offering high-acuity nursing and monitoring of post-operative vascular patients.
The Zivot Limb Preservation Centre is a joint clinic and minor OR space that hosts all vascular surgery clinics, podiatry, and the internal medicine Vascular Risk Reduction Clinic. Learn more here.
The Division works closely with the Vascular Interventional Radiology team at the Peter Lougheed to approach complex endovascular cases. Dedicated joint vascular-IR rounds are held on Thursday mornings at 7AM.
The Complex Aortic Clinic is a multidisciplinary team of vascular surgeons, cardiac surgeons, cardiologists, and interventional radiologists providing care to patients with complex aortic aneurysms and congenital aortopathies.
In addition, our staff and residents frequently travel to the Canmore General Hospital for vein ligation and stripping.
In 2021, we became a member of the Vascular Quality Initiative (VQI).
